New Delhi: A four-year-old boy, who was pushed off a 30-foot-high cliff by his teenage neighbour who also struck the child repeatedly with a stone last Wednesday in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat, succumbed to injuries on Saturday night. Police said that they will add murder charges against the 15-year-old boy, who had fatally injured the child to exact revenge. On Sept 16, the 15-year-old was punished at home by his father for taking the landlord’s motorcycle without his permission and then abandoning it somewhere. The four-year-old’s mother had informed the landlord about the teenager’s act. The 15-year-old, during questioning, reportedly confessed that he had resented this and decided to lure the four-year-old away.

He took the boy to a forested area in Ramjas Park and attacked him there. TOI reported on the crime on Sunday. The father of the deceased boy told TOI that his son was playing outside with his eight-year-old sister. Around 6.30 pm on Sept 16, the teenager came and took him away. “He also asked my daughter to come, but she refused. Later, when my wife asked my daughter about her brother, she said: ‘Bhaiya lekar gaye hain (brother took him away). When the boy returned, my wife asked him about our child, and he said he had left him near a shop,” the father said. A search began for the boy, but he was nowhere to be found. “We kept asking the (neighbourhood) boy about my son, but he denied taking him away,” the father said. CCTV footage later confirmed that the boy had indeed taken their child away. “My injured son was found in the jungle after nearly 10 hours…. My boy had suffered two fractures in one hand, four injuries to his head, and a fractured neck. He had been tortured. He was only breathing, but not opening his eyes,” the father said. The boy battled for life in the ICU for four days. The last rites were done on Sunday. “That boy used to play with my kid. We never suspected he could do something like this,” the father said. The 15-year-old dropped out of school after completing Class X. The families live on the same rented premises and run shops. They also had a history of neighbourhood tiffs.
