NEW DELHI: India’s spinners dominated West Indies in the second Test match, maintaining their strong position after captain Shubman Gill‘s impressive century on Saturday. West Indies ended the day at 140-4, trailing India by 378 runs at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja claimed three wickets, with Shai Hope scoring 31 and Tevin Imlach on 14 remaining at the crease at stumps.

Gill demonstrated exceptional leadership with an unbeaten 129, marking his fifth century of the year in eight Tests. SUBSCRIBE NOW!West Indies began their response to India’s declared total of 518-5 with Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze showing brief resistance, scoring 34 and 41 respectively before their dismissals.Jadeja dismissed Chanderpaul when KL Rahul caught his edge at slip. Kuldeep Yadav then removed Athanaze, followed by Roston Chase’s duck in the next over off Jadeja’s bowling.Hope continued batting after surviving a close lbw appeal, which India unsuccessfully reviewed.John Campbell’s innings ended at 10 runs when Sai Sudharsan made a remarkable catch at forward short-leg, using his helmet, chest, and hands while ducking for cover.Gill, who resumed at 20, displayed impressive batting skills with 16 fours and two sixes in his tenth Test century. He reached his hundred with three runs off Khary Pierre’s bowling.A 102-run partnership developed between Gill and Dhruv Jurel, who scored 44. Their quick scoring after lunch increased pressure on the West Indies team.The day began with Jaiswal’s run-out at 175, adding just two runs to his overnight score. A miscommunication with Gill led to his dismissal when attempting a single to mid-off.Gill maintained his composure and formed a 91-run partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored 43 before falling to Jomel Warrican’s bowling.India hold a commanding position to win the two-match series after securing victory in the first Test by an innings.
