10 new Honda models coming! Big push to expand with SUVs, EVs

On the sidelines of the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Honda Motor Co. President and Representative Executive Officer Toshihiro Mibe unveiled the company’s roadmap for India, signaling a clear shift toward electric mobility and a significant expansion of its product lineup in the years ahead.Mibe revealed the company’s plan to launch 10 new models in India by 2030, including both high-volume and premium offerings. A key part of this strategy will be seven new SUVs. Mibe said that the sub-four metre segment will play a key role in Honda’s growth strategy for India, and the company plans to focus on this segment.

Overall, out of the 10 new products planned for India, some will be global models introduced to the market, while those produced locally will be specially developed to suit the demands of the Indian market.Honda will also expand its hybrid range, therefore offering ICE, hybrid, and EVs across mass and premium segments. At present, its India lineup includes the Amaze, City, City e:HEV, and the Elevate SUV.Earlier at the show, Honda showcased the 0 Alpha electric SUV concept, part of its new 0 Series EV lineup. Built on a born-electric platform with the “Thin, Light, and Wise” design approach, the 0 Alpha is set for production by early 2027 and will be Honda’s first locally manufactured 0 Series model in India. The car will be designed keeping in mind Indian requirements such as high ground-clearance and roomy interiors. It is expected to deliver a range between 400 to 500 km.The carmaker also confirmed that electric vehicles will be at the core of its future product lineup. Honda’s upcoming global EVs will be powered by ASIMO OS, the core software for its electric vehicles. This system manages automated driving and driver assistance functions, vehicle dynamics, and digital user experiences, while also enabling cloud connectivity for real-time services, software development, and over-the-air updates. However, the India-specific Alpha EV will not feature the ASIMO software at launch. Honda says it may be integrated later depending on market requirements and conditions.Honda also emphasized the growing role of its India R&D division, which will work closely with local suppliers to enhance localization and reduce costs. The company added that India’s strength in software development is a major advantage. Through its collaboration with KPIT, over 2000 engineers in India are already developing software not just for domestic models but for Honda’s global lineup as well.
