In a special state-wide campaign conducted over the past 11 days, Haryana Police arrested 610 individuals accused of heinous and serious crimes. Among those apprehended are hardened criminals involved in murders, extortion, and firing incidents. In addition, 2,562 persons were arrested in other cases, taking the total number of arrests to 3,172.

“These numbers reflect a tangible impact on crime disruption, particularly in districts like Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonipat, Karnal, and Rohtak, where notorious criminals have long operated with impunity,” said DGP OP Singh.
The 16-day Operation Trackdown, launched on November 5, was aimed at habitual offenders, violent criminals, and organized gangs. Arrests were made under charges including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, robbery, dacoity, snatching, kidnapping, and illegal possession of arms.
Specifically, the operation resulted in 138 arrests related to attempted murders and 67 linked to murders, underscoring strong action against violent crime. Offenders were also apprehended in 25 extortion cases, 23 robberies, 14 dacoities, 46 snatching incidents, and 18 kidnappings.
According to the DGP, Gurgaon, with its thriving industries and upscale residential hubs, topped the list with 116 arrests in heinous crime cases under the operation. “The city’s proximity to Delhi and rapid urban growth have made it vulnerable to organized gangs and arms trafficking,” he said.
Faridabad recorded 43 arrests, Sonipat 57, Karnal 36, Rohtak 39, Palwal 31, along with several other districts where coordinated efforts yielded significant results. “Collaboration between district police units and specialized task forces has been instrumental in orchestrating these crackdowns,” noted OP Singh.
The DGP said, “Operation Trackdown does not merely rely on arrests; it is driven by intelligence-based policing, raids on verified leads, and inter-agency coordination. A key focus has been on seizing illegal weapons including pistols, revolvers, cartridges, and magazines, thereby disrupting supply chains for violent crime.”

He further said that the operation stands as an example of thematic policing, showing how “focused, data-driven campaigns strengthen broader law enforcement”.
“As the state continues to urbanize and its population grows, such specialized operations provide a blueprint for other regions confronting organized crime. Sustained analysis, transparency, and community engagement will be vital to maintaining momentum,” said DGP.
Beyond arrests, the police have opened history sheets and personal files for many of the accused to ensure continued vigilance and monitoring. “This methodical approach has enhanced Haryana’s capacity to tackle repeat offenders and dismantle organized crime syndicates,” the DGP added.
