Uber announced on Thursday (November 20, 2025) that it was partnering with Sulabh International to provide free access to the public sanitation non-profit’s toilets. The partnership is in force in nine cities, and an Uber executive said, while announcing the pact, that it may be expanded to other cities as well.

“The partnership will enable Uber drivers to use Sulabh operated public toilets free of charge across nine cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad,” the ridesharing firm said in a statement. The firm made the announcement during the World Toilet Summit, being hosted in India by Sulabh.

Sulabh’s toilets, such as those in metro stations in the National Capital Region, typically charge a nominal fee for entry, which will not be charged to Uber drivers, the company said.

Amit Deshpande, Uber’s city operations head for India and South Asia, said that the move was an attempt to “improve everyday work conditions for drivers”.

Sulabh has over 10,000 “pay and use” toilets in India; several of the Delhi Metro network’s stations are equipped with Sulabh toilets.
