The Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday condemned Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent remarks suggesting that Sindh “may return to India” calling them delusional, expansionist, and a violation of international law.
In a statement, the ministry said Singh’s comments reflected a dangerously revisionist and Hindutva expansionist mindset. “Pakistan strongly condemns the Indian Defence Minister’s delusional and dangerously revisionist remarks regarding Pakistan’s Sindh province,” it said. “Such statements reveal an expansionist Hindutva mindset that seeks to challenge established realities and stands in clear violation of international law, the inviolability of recognised borders, and the sovereignty of states.”
Pakistan urged Indian leaders to avoid rhetoric that could inflame tensions. “We urge Mr Rajnath Singh and other Indian leaders to refrain from provocative rhetoric that threatens regional peace and stability. It would be far more constructive for the Government of India to focus on ensuring the security of its own citizens, particularly vulnerable minority communities,” it added.

Speaking at a Sindhi community event in New Delhi on Sunday, Singh cited BJP veteran LK Advani’s writings on the cultural and civilisational links between Sindh and India. He said many Sindhi Hindus of Advani’s generation never reconciled with Sindh’s separation during the 1947 Partition.
Singh reiterated that although Sindh is part of Pakistan today, “borders can change,” adding, “tomorrow Sindh may return to India”.
Quoting Advani, he said the Indus (Sindhu) River held deep spiritual significance for Hindus and many Muslims in Sindh, comparing its sanctity to the Aab-e-Zamzam in Mecca. “Today, the land of Sindh may not be a part of India, but civilisationally, Sindh will always be a part of India,” he said. “And as far as land is concerned, borders can change. Who knows, tomorrow Sindh may return to India.”
Singh also referenced the national anthem to underline Sindh’s emotional connect with India, noting that people continue to sing “Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha” with pride.
Pakistan further called on India to take credible steps toward resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. It reiterated its commitment to resolving all issues peacefully on the basis of international law while asserting that it remains firmly resolved to safeguard its security, national independence, and sovereignty.
