CBSE issues advisory to schools on unauthorised CBSE-WSO sports events 2025

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a warning to all affiliated schools regarding unauthorised sports activities conducted by CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSE-WSO), Agra. The advisory follows the cancellation of the society’s registration by the Registrar of Firms, Societies and Chits, Agra, in an order dated December 5, 2025.Schools have been instructed to treat any claims, communications, or programmes organised by CBSE-WSO as invalid. The Board clarified that it has no association, endorsement, or affiliation with the society and emphasised that the use of the name “CBSE” by the entity was unauthorised and misleading.Registrar cancels CBSE-WSO registration in AgraThe Registrar of Firms, Societies and Chits, Agra, issued the cancellation notice after determining that CBSE-WSO was using the name “CBSE” without consent from the Board. The decision effectively invalidates the society’s operations and removes any legal recognition it previously held in the region. The Board’s notification, issued by Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, specifies that schools should exercise caution and conduct due diligence when approached by the society. All communications and invitations from CBSE-WSO are considered unauthorised and should not be acted upon.Schools advised to avoid participation in unauthorised sports programmesAffiliated schools have been explicitly directed not to engage with, support, or sponsor students for any sports events, competitions, or activities organised by CBSE-WSO. The CBSE advisory emphasises that participation in such programmes could mislead students and parents regarding the Board’s involvement.Officials further advised schools to verify the legitimacy of all sports events under the CBSE banner. Any programme claiming affiliation with CBSE should be cross-checked with the Board through official communication channels before participation.Contact CBSE for clarificationsFor clarification regarding the advisory or verification of sports activities, schools may contact CBSE directly. The Board’s communication channels remain the official source for information on authorised events and affiliated organisations. The advisory, issued under the signature of Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, reinforces the Board’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its name and programmes. Schools are urged to comply fully with the instructions to ensure that students are not enrolled in unauthorised events or competitions that may claim a connection with the Board.
