Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, has crossed the Rs 100 crore milestone in its opening weekend. The film, which released in cinemas on December 5, secured its highest single-day earnings on its first Sunday at the domestic box office.

On Sunday (day 3), Dhurandhar collected Rs 43 crore, a significant improvement on its earnings on Saturday (day 2) at Rs 32 crore, which was in turn a notable increase from its opening day collection of Rs 28 crore on Friday. As per Sacnilk, Dhurandhar has earned Rs 103 crore at the domestic box office in three days.

Ranveer Singh’s last solo lead release, Karan Johar’s 2023 family comedy Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, achieved the same feat in 10 days at the domestic box office. His 2022 comedy, Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus, could only manage Rs 38.64 crore in its lifetime run, thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since his film Jayeshbhai Jordaar also released in the same year, it could barely earn Rs 15 crore at the domestic box office.

Even his much-appreciated 2021 period sports drama 83, directed by Kabir Khan, was a victim of the Omicron wave as it could cross the Rs 100 crore mark only gradually within four weeks of its run at the domestic box office. Thus, Dhurandhar has become Ranveer’s fastest film to earn Rs 100 crore.

Ranveer Singh enjoyed a smoother run at the box office pre-pandemic. His 2019 coming-of-age musical Gully Boy, helmed by Zoya Akhtar, crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within its opening week. Similarly, his 2018 cop drama Simmba, directed by Shetty, hit that milestone in less than five days. Meanwhile, Aditya Dhar’s last directorial, 2019 military drama Uri: The Surgical Strike, starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, hit the Rs 100 crore mark in less than 10 days.

Dhurandhar also features Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, and Rakesh Bedi alongside Ranveer. The film is an underworld saga following a network of criminals, informants, and operatives whose lives intersect, navigating covert operations, espionage and betrayals. It is produced by Dhar and his brother Lokesh Dhar through their banner B62 Studios alongside Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios.
