A 26-year-old Biocon employee in Bengaluru died after falling from the company’s building in Electronics City on Tuesday, in what police suspect to be a case of suicide.

The deceased, identified as S Anantha Kumar from Banashankari, worked in the finance department at Biocon’s Electronics City Phase II facility, the police said.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 5 pm when Kumar was reportedly on his phone and had gone to the canteen terrace.

The police have shifted the body to a hospital in Electronics City for a post-mortem examination and informed Kumar’s parents about the death.

“A case will be registered once the parents provide their statement,” a police officer told reporters. The jurisdictional Parappana Agrahara police have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the death.

Authorities stated that no suicide note was recovered from the scene, and the exact reason behind the suspected suicide remains unclear.

In a statement, Biocon has condoled the death of its employee. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our employees in Bengaluru. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family during this extremely difficult time,” the company stated.
