It’s safe to say that President Donald Trump doesn’t have a lot of friends in Hollywood. That phenomenon was on full display when ABC cancelled Jimmy Kimmel’s show and the entire industry rallied behind him. Now, actor George Clooney has spoken up against Trump and the MAGA media and has also blamed television networks for the state of the country.

George, whose father, Nick Clooney, was also a journalist, has always been quite vocal about his liberal beliefs. He was one of the few people that urged Joe Biden to step down from the race in order to give Trump some real competition in 2024. Now continuing his stance against the President, George talked about the current state of the press in his country and how all television networks have to wake up and smell the coffee.

Referring to the lawsuits that CBS and ABC were involved in with Trump, Clooney said, “If CBS and ABC had challenged those lawsuits and said, ‘Go f*** yourself,’ we wouldn’t be where we are in the country. That’s simply the truth.” He also took shots at CBS News and the new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, and said, “Bari Weiss is dismantling CBS News as we speak. I’m worried about how we inform ourselves and how we’re going to discern reality without a functioning press.”

The actor also circled back to American broadcaster Edward R. Murrow and how he directed the film Good Night, and Good Luck, which was about the aforementioned gentleman. He agreed that Trump’s current run as the president goes against everything people like Murrow stood for and said, “It’s a very trying time. It can depress you or make you very angry. But you have to find the most positive way through it. You have to put your head down and keep moving forward because quitting isn’t an option.”

Clooney is just one of the many celebrities who have openly voiced their distrust and anger over Trump’s presidency. That list contains people like Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Robert De Niro, Jeff Bridges, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon and many more.
