Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced ‘Panch Pran’ (five pledges) for a developed India from Red Fort in his 2022 Independence Day address. However, the pledges seem to have ‘lost in spelling’ on a plaque installed by the Department of Legal Affairs at Shastri Bhawan. In the Hindi spelling, Panch Pran has been written as ‘Panch Praan’ (five lives).
Party Overhaul
After a drubbing in the recent Bihar Assembly elections, Tejashwi Yadav-led RJD is planning to overhaul its organisational structure at the state and district levels. According to sources, Tejashwi will be holding a series of meetings with the key leaders in the coming days and organisational changes are expected to be announced after January 15. Some district presidents are expected to be changed and new spokespersons may also be appointed.

The stray dogs matter before the Supreme Court saw many stakeholders, including animal lovers, victims, and experts on the subject, submitting their views to a three-judge bench presided by Justice Vikram Nath. One of them thanked the judges for their intervention, addressing the bench as “you guys”, only to be interrupted by some lawyers who ‘whispered’ to her that there is a protocol to be followed in the courtroom. The lady quickly apologised, saying she was not aware of the same. Justice Nath sought to reassure that it was alright and moved ahead with the proceedings.
