Kolkata Traffic Advisory: Belgharia Railway Over Bridge to remain closed from Jan 17 – check alternate routes

Kolkata road closure, Kolkata Traffic Advisory:The Belgharia Railway Over Bridge (ROB) will remain closed from January 17 as Sealdah Division undertakes renovation work. Thus, vehicular movement on the bridge will be completely restricted from Saturday, January 17, until the completion of the project.

In a statement, Eastern Railway (ER), under which Sealdah Division falls, said that vehicular traffic will be diverted through alternative routes to ensure public safety and facilitate the smooth execution of the work.

“Traffic movement over Belgharia Railway Over Bridge shall remain completely restricted from 00:01 hrs. on 17.01.2026 till completion of the work, and vehicular traffic shall be diverted through alternative routes as notified by the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate in the interest of public safety and smooth execution of the work,” ER said.

Closure of Belgharia Railway Over Bridge from January 17: Alternate routes

  • Vehicles travelling from B.T. Road towards Nimta via Belgharia Railway Over Bridge will be directed as follows:

B.T. Road → Rathtala Morh / Nilgunj Road & B.T. Road Crossing → Sindhu Store Morh on Nilgunj Road → Texmaco / Military Road → 04 No. Rail Gate → via Sahid Bedi on N. Basudeb Road → M.B. Road (Culture Morh) → Nimta / Kalyani Expressway.

  • Vehicles travelling from Nimta / Kalyani Expressway towards B.T. Road via Belgharia Railway Over Bridge will be directed as follows:

M.B. Road → Culture Morh (Right turn) → Old Nimta Road → 02 No. Rail Gate → Nilgunj Road → Sindhu Store Morh → B.T. Road.

  • Restriction on Belgharia Railway Over Bridge:

Ascending/Descending point of Belgharia Railway Over Bridge – No vehicles will be allowed to ply through Belgharia Railway Over Bridge.

  • Vehicles coming from Muragacha side towards B.T. Road will continue to ply via Sodepur Railway Over Bridge as usual (except goods vehicle).
