The results for the 227 wards in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was declared by the State Election Commission on Friday, January 16. The voting was held on Thursday. Along with the BMC, 28 other municipal corporations went to the polls across Maharashtra for the civic polls. The results for the same will be declared today.

In Mumbai, the BJP-led Mahayuti bloc is engaged in a high-stakes contest with the reunited Thackeray cousins for control of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, India’s richest civic body.
Polling for 2,869 seats across 893 wards in the 29 civic corporations, including 227 seats in Mumbai, was held on Thursday. A total of 15,931 candidates are contesting these elections, which saw participation from 3.48 crore eligible voters across the state. These are the first civic body elections in Maharashtra since 2017.

Voting across all the municipal bodies, including Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), ended peacefully with no untoward incidents.
