Preparations are underway for Raipur Sahitya Utsav 2026, scheduled to be held from January 23 to 25 at Purkhouti Muktangan in Nava Raipur. The three-day event aims to provide a platform for literature, culture and dialogue, and to strengthen Chhattisgarh’s participation in national literary discourse.

Collector Dr Gaurav Singh and Public Relations Commissioner Dr Ravi Mittal on Friday inspected the venue and reviewed arrangements. Officials were directed to complete preparations related to stalls, the main stage, session venues, food zone, drinking water, parking, security and visitor facilities within the stipulated timeline. Representatives of the Chhattisgarh Sahitya Akademi, Culture Department, district administration, municipal corporation and organising committee were present during the inspection.

The central theme of the festival is ‘Aadi se Anaadi Tak’, which focuses on the continuity of Indian literary traditions. Dr Singh said the festival will include participation from children, youth, teachers, writers and readers. He said efforts are being made to connect younger audiences with literature, ideas and cultural discussions.

During the three days, the venue will host literary sessions, book releases, panel discussions, cultural programmes and art exhibitions. Writers, poets, journalists, thinkers and young authors from different parts of the country are expected to participate. The programme schedule includes discussions on contemporary issues and interactive sessions with audiences.

A focus area of the festival is youth and child participation. Books featuring poems and stories written by school students from Raipur district will be released during the event. Open-mic sessions will be organised for children and young participants. More than 4,000 registrations have been received so far.

A book fair with around 40 stalls will be organised, featuring publications from various publishers. Writer-reader interaction sessions will also be held.

The festival will include a staging of the play ‘Chanakya’, folk performances, a Kavi Sammelan and dialogue sessions with journalists, thinkers and social workers. Organisers said the event aims to create sustained interaction between writers, readers and emerging voices in literature.
