Bomb threats target schools in Noida, Ahmedabad ahead of Republic Day; police scan campuses, alert sounded

NOIDA/AHMEDABAD: Several prominant educational institutions in Noida, including Shiv Nadar School, Cambridge and Army Public School were evacuated and closed on Friday after receiving bomb threat mails, triggering a major security alert just three days ahead of the Republic Day. As per news agency PTI, senior police officers along with personnel from multiple police stations, bomb disposal squads, fire services, dog squads and BDDS teams were rushed to the schools that received the threat emails.Police conducted intensive security checks at the premises of several private institutions, while a cyber team initiated technical analysis of the emails, officials said in a press note.“The situation is normal and complete peace and order have been ensured at all locations. People are advised not to pay attention to rumours,” the police said.Officials added that a preliminary assessment indicated the threats were non-specific in nature, though investigations are continuing to trace the source of the emails and ascertain intent.Around the same time, several schools in western Ahmedabad also received similar bomb threat emails, prompting heightened security measures across the city. Parents have been advised to remain calm and await official updates, while investigators are working to trace the origin of the threat emails.
