‘Border 2’, the war drama starring Sunny Deol in the lead, has recorded a blockbuster start to its run at the box office. The film that was released in time for the extended Republic Day weekend, made the most of the holiday and scored its highest collection to date. Early box office reports indicate a phenomenal Monday collection that surpasses the Rs 50 crore mark and a good first week haul that is set to see it rank among the highest week 1 box office collections of all time.Border 2 Movie Review

‘Border 2’ box office collection Day 4

As per early estimates on Sacnilk, the film that hit theatres in India on Friday not only managed to score a good debut weekend, but also recorded one of the highest Republic Day collections of all time. The film reportedly earned an estimated Rs 56 crore on its first Monday. However, as per the latest box office report, the film earned an estimated total of Rs 59 crore on Monday. With this, the film not only recorded its highest single-day collections thus far, but also scored one of the highest first Monday collections, and one of the highest Republic Day box office earnings of all time.

‘Border 2’ week 1 collections

The film that hit theatres on Friday, January 23, began its box office run with an impressive Rs 30 crore net collection on Day 1. Over the weekend, the film saw impressive growth at the box office, earning an estimated Rs 36.5 crore on Saturday and seeing a big boost on Sunday, with a total collection of Rs 54.5 crore. Monday saw the film extending its record to rake in an estimated Rs 59 crore, thus surpassing all expectations to score a win at the ticket windows.With a total net collection of Rs 177 crore, the film is now on its way to score a Rs 200 crore week 1 collection, joining the ranks of recent releases like ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Chhaava’.

‘Border 2’ occupancy

‘Border 2’, directed by Anurag Singh, had an overall 64.27% Hindi occupancy, with its morning shows seeing a good 40.39% turnout and the film seeing its highest footfalls for evening shows, with a 79.90% footfall.

‘Border 2’ worldwide collections

The film also shot past the Rs 200 crore mark, grossing a total collection of Rs 212.2 crore in just 4 days. An additional Rs 35 crore collection from international markets, thus pushed the film’s total to an impressive worldwide haul of Rs 247.2 crore.

‘Border 2’ vs ‘Gadar 2’

While ‘Border 2’ recorded a good start at the box office, the film’s Rs 177 crore collection is a huge Rs 108 crore behind the week 1 collectionf of Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ which scored an impressive Rs 285 crore haul in just 7 days. While the movie has been scoring well because of good word of mouth and recall value, it still has three days to challenge the ‘Gadar 2’ record set in 2023.

‘Border 2’ vs ‘Pathaan’

The Sunny Deol war drama scooped Rs 56 crore haul on Monday, on the Republic Day holiday. However, although impressive, the earnings did not come close to the record Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ created at the box office. The film that released in 2023, holds the record for the highest Republic Day collection with an estiamted earning of Rs 70.50 crore.

‘Border 2’ becomes highest earning film for lead cast

Meanwhile, ‘Border 2’ in just four days has already made its way to the top of Varun’s highest grossing film of all time. The film has comfortably beaten out the lifetime collection of ‘Dilwale’ which scored Rs 148.42 crore. The film is also the first Rs 100 crore grosser that Ahan Shetty is a part of. His debut film earned an estimated Rs 27 crore. Meanwhile, for Sunny Deol, the film has cliimbed its way up to become the actor’s second-highest earning film of all time, second to only ‘Gadar 2’. The film boasts of a total collection of Rs 525.7 crore. The film is also a few crore shy of become Diljit Dosanjh’s highest grossing film of all time, beating out ‘Good Newz’ which earned an estimated Rs 205.09 crore.
