U-Sphere, the EPC subsidiary of Kerala’s labour cooperative ULCCS, having started operations from Kerala last year is planning to go pan-India next year.

The company has won several projects in southern States and is also mobilising resources for capacity building, said it’s CEO Biju Mahima in an interview.

“We are strong in Kerala. We have two projects in Bengaluru and one more in the pipeline. We have signed work in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, with more expected. We are receiving inquiries in Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai, though no contracts are signed yet,” he said.

“We are also in advanced discussions for 30–40 storey high-rise buildings in Bengaluru and Hyderabad,” he added.

“By next year, we expect presence across South India, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. We are also receiving inquiries from Delhi. FY28 onwards, we plan to be Pan-India,” he added.

“Currently, we have booked projects worth ₹50-60 crore, with a target of Rs. 7,500 crore order book over the next five years. Around ₹400-500 crore is in the negotiation pipeline,” Mr Mahima said.

One of the 11 verticals of ULCCS, U-Sphere focuses on construction using innovative technologies to improve speed, quality, and client convenience. Speed is a key parameter in construction, and innovation is our core focus.

U-Sphere was officially launched in 2025 and it is currently focusing on steel structures, which offer advantages over RCC in terms of speed and efficiency. It provides end-to-end EPC solutions including architecture, structural design, detailing, execution (steel, civil, interiors), BIM integration, and sustainability.

It has completed a project of 1.83 lakh sq. ft. using around 2,200 tonnes of steel within one year.

ULCCS has around 18,000 labourers on payroll, with no subcontracting. All profits are shared among labourers, improving their quality of life, he said.

It is exploring opportunities in the Middle East due to strong Kerala links, but no decision has been taken yet. “A feasibility study is ongoing,” he said.

On investment plans he said, “Major investments are planned post-2027. We are planning a large steel fabrication facility with a capacity of 5,000-6,000 tonnes per month. Investments will mainly be in land, machinery, fabrication facilities, offices and skilled manpower across Pan-India.”

U-Sphere is initiated by ULCCS, Asia’s largest cooperative society with a 100-year legacy. ULCCS is formed and run by labourers, and all benefits and profits go back to them. It is known in Kerala for quality and timely completion of projects.
