'Tell cops we are friends': Bengaluru doctor's message to woman after killing wife with overdose of Propofol anaesthesia
A local court in the city on Wednesday rejected bail for Dr Mahendra Reddy GS, who was arrested on charges of murdering his dermatologist wife, Kruthika Reddy, by administering an overdose of anaesthesia in April 2025.

BENGALURU: A local court in Bengaluru on Wednesday rejected bail for Dr Mahendra Reddy GS, who was arrested on charges of murdering his dermatologist wife, Kruthika Reddy, by administering an overdose of anaesthesia in April 2025.A general physician at the Institute of Gastroenterology and Organ Transplant in Victoria, Reddy was arrested by Marathahalli police in October 2025 after Kruthika’s post-mortem report confirmed a large quantity of anaesthesia in her body.Since his arrest, Mahendra Reddy has been in judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison.Police had also filed a preliminary charge sheet explaining how Reddy, allegedly unhappy with his wife over her ill health, hatched a plan to murder her and intentionally administered an overdose of Propofol anaesthesia. While opposing Reddy’s bail plea, investigators from Marathahalli police told the court that they had recovered lakhs of digital files with the help of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), including PhonePe chats, deleted data, intimate photographs, and other key materials. One of the retrieved messages from Reddy’s mobile phone read, “I don’t have proof, but I have killed Kruthika. I will go behind bars.”Another message, sent to a woman professional from his field, read, “Do not text or call me anywhere after you see this message. I will call you once everything is settled. Most likely, police will contact you to ask about our relationship. Tell them we are friends.”Mahendra and Kruthika got married in May 2024. Both were working at a hospital in Bengaluru. However, Mahendra reportedly became upset over Kruthika’s ill health and grew close to four or five women. He allegedly told some of them separately that he wanted to marry them.

Poll

Should Dr. Mahendra Reddy be granted bail until the trial?

Another message, sent to around five women from Reddy’s phone and later deleted, read: “I killed my wife for you.”
