The Pune city traffic police on Sunday notified traffic changes, including road closures and diversions, which will be in force between September 22 and October 2 for the Navratri festivities in the city. These changes are primarily for the areas around Chaturshringi Temple, Bhavani Mata Temple and Tambdi Jogeshwari temple, which attract a large number of devotees. The police said these areas are expected to witness traffic congestion during peak hours despite the changes implemented.

1) Appa Balwant Chowk: The traffic will not be allowed from Appa Balwant Chowk to Bhudhwar Chowk. Only one-way traffic from Bhudhwar Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk will be allowed. The alternative route has been earmarked via Gadgil Putala and Shivaji Road.

2) Bhavani Mata Mandir: The patch of Mahatma Phule Road from Ramoshi Gate Chowk to Old Motor Stand will be closed for traffic. This patch has also been notified as a no-parking zone. The alternative routes have been earmarked via AD Camp Chowk and Bhagwan Bahubali Chowk.

The route of the PMPML bus from Ramoshi Gate has been changed via Seven Loves Chowk and Golibar Maidan. For the no-parking area notified on Mahatma Phule Road, alternative parking lots have been earmarked on Pandit Nehru Road.

3) Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple: Entry of vehicles from Ganpati Chowk to Tambadi Jogeshwari temple will now be allowed. Alternative route has been earmarked via Sevasadan Chowk and Shaniwar Wada. No parking zones have been notified for the areas around Tambdi Jogeshwari Temple, Ashtabhuja Devi Mandir, and Ashtabhuja Durga Mandir.

4) Chaturshringi Mata Temple: In the case of a traffic congestion on Senapati Bapat road due to the large number of devotees gathering at the Chaturshringi temple, the following traffic changes will be implemented as and when required: Traffic from Patrakar Nagar Chowk to Senapati Bapat Junction will be diverted and released one way via Shivaji Housing junction.

Further traffic towards Chatushrungi temple will be diverted via Vetalbaba Chowk and Deep Bangla Chowk. Vehicles coming from Veer Chapekar Chowk to Chaturshringi temple take the route via Suryamukhi Datta Mandir Chowk and Sanganna Dhotre Path to reach Polytechnic Parking Gate.

5) Separate set for morning of September 23: While all the above traffic changes will be in force from September 22 to October 2, a separate set of traffic changes has been notified for 5 am to 7 am on September 23, when a large number of devotees are expected for the Atharvashirsha Recital at the Mahalaxmi Temple at Sarasbaug.

Traffic coming from Jedhe Chowk will not be allowed to enter the patch from Jamnalal Bajaj Statue to Savarkar Chowk. These vehicles will be diverted via Puram Chowk. Traffic coming from Mitramandal Chowk will not be allowed to proceed to Puram Chowk from Savarkar Chowk. These vehicles will be diverted at the Sinhagad Road junction.
