'Had a responsibility': Kamala Harris regrets campaigning for Joe Biden for 2024 presidential polls - watch

Kamala Harris admitted she regretted backing Joe Biden’s bid for a second term, saying she had a “certain responsibility” to voice her concerns about his 2024 run at a time when most Americans believed he was too old for the job.In an interview to MSNBC, released on Tuesday, Harris said, “I have and had a certain responsibility that I should have followed through on.”Harris’ remarks build on a section from her memoir “107 Days,” where she reflects on stepping in as the Democratic nominee after Biden bowed out of the 2024 race, a contest she eventually lost to Donald Trump.

Kamala Harris: I was ‘reckless’ not to challenge Biden on running in 2024

In the book, she recalled how staffers in the White House would often defer the question of Biden’s reelection bid by saying, “It’s Joe and Jill’s decision,” a nod to the president and first lady’s hold over the choice.

Do you agree with Kamala Harris’s regret over backing Biden’s second term?

“Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness. The stakes were simply too high. This wasn’t a choice that should have been left to an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition. It should have been more than a personal decision,” AP quoted an excerpt from her book.Clarifying her stance on why Pete Buttigieg was not chosen as her running mate, Harris said that although he was her first choice for vice president, she feared Americans might not be ready to vote for a ticket featuring both a Black woman and a gay man. “It wasn’t about any prejudice on my part” but “we had such a short period of time, and the stakes were so high,” she said.
