Abhishek Sharma's season of ducks: SRH batter joins Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson in unwanted list

Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma’s struggle with form continued as he registered another duck and entered a list of Indian batters with the most ducks in a calendar year in T20s.During the IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants, Abhishek was dismissed for a two-ball duck by Mohammed Shami. It was his sixth duck of 2026 in T20s, putting him alongside Rohit Sharma (six ducks in 2018) and Sanju Samson (six ducks in 2024) for the joint-most ducks by an Indian batter in a calendar year in the format, as per a report by news agency ANI.

Abhishek has had a slow start to IPL 2026, scoring 55 runs in three innings, with 48 of those coming against Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous match.The top-ranked T20 batter also had a difficult T20 World Cup, scoring 141 runs in eight innings at an average of 17.62 and a strike rate of over 158, including two half-centuries, one of which came in the final. He began that tournament with three ducks in a row.Overall this year, Abhishek has scored 378 runs in 16 T20 innings at an average of 25.20 and a strike rate of over 195, with four fifties and a highest score of 84.In the ongoing match, Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.LSG made one change, bringing in Manimaran Siddharth in place of Anrich Nortje. Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by stand-in captain Ishan Kishan, made two changes by including Harshal Patel and Liam Livingstone.Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their opening match of the season against Royal Challengers Bengaluru before beating Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs. Lucknow Super Giants are looking for their first win after losing their previous match to Delhi Capitals.
