The government of Andhra Pradesh has released the notification for the state eligibility test for the recruitment and promotion of assistant professors and lecturers in universities and degree colleges across Andhra Pradesh. The application process will begin on January 9, 2026, through the official websites apset.net.in and andhrauniversity.edu.in.

The examination is scheduled to be conducted online on March 28 and 29, 2026, and will consist of two papers: Paper 1 (Teaching and Research Aptitude) and Paper 2 (the candidate’s chosen subject). In total, the APSET-2025 will cover 30 subjects.

Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, will conduct the APSET-2025 examination on behalf of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, in accordance with UGC norms. Qualifying for this test is mandatory for securing lecturer positions in universities as well as government and private degree colleges across the state.

Eligibility

Candidates applying for APSET-2025 must possess a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a UGC-recognised university, with a minimum of 55 per cent marks for the general category and 50 per cent marks for reserved categories. There is no age limit for appearing in the examination.

Additionally, candidates who have completed a PhD are eligible for relaxation in the required marks. The examination will be conducted at designated centres across various cities in Andhra Pradesh.

Application fees

The application fee is Rs 1600 for General category candidates, Rs 1300 for BC and EWS candidates, and Rs 900 for SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender candidates. Fees must be paid online through credit/debit cards or net banking, while details regarding late fee applications will be announced in the official notification at a later stage.

The APSET-2025 syllabus is aligned with the UGC-NET framework. Paper 1 will cover topics such as Teaching Aptitude, Research Methodology, Reading Comprehension, Communication, and Logical Reasoning, while Paper 2 will focus on the candidate’s chosen subject. Successful candidates will be awarded a lifetime-valid certificate, qualifying them for lecturer positions in universities and degree colleges across Andhra Pradesh.
