TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) – People and businesses are seeing rising prices nationwide and shortages of eggs in stores. When people find eggs, there are many empty store shelves and high price tags on the eggs.
Tiffany Pate, owner of Desert Bloom Confections in southern Arizona, is directly addressing this shortage and rising prices. Pate said she needs to do more planning when shopping for her own business.
“I thought I would just go to the store and everything would be there. Now when I go, I have to think about how many cakes I have and what exactly I need. Also, instead of being a one-stop shop, I have to go to different stores, so I have to move around the city a lot,” says Pate.
When she found the eggs at the store, she also noticed that the quality had changed.
“The size seems to be getting smaller. So if my recipe calls for 3 large eggs, but these are not large, I have to take that into account. I have to explain that.” I won’t spoil anything,” she said.
Janet Petersen, owner of Home Sweet Home Macarons in Phoenix, has experienced the same thing.
She said she started a farmer’s market a year ago.
“At the time, I could go to Fry’s and get five dozen 60 packs of eggs for about $7.00 each egg.” , raised prices,” Petersen said.
She kept saying she might lose her business if the price of eggs didn’t come down. “And when does it become so expensive that it becomes worthless?”
This is what many business owners are trying to figure out for themselves. If you don’t know the price of eggs next month, let alone next year, how do you plan?
If you need eggs in a pinch, experts recommend doing your grocery shopping on weekdays. This can be helpful as many stores restock their shelves overnight.
