BCCI Ethics Officer Vineet Saran has rejected Saurashtra Cricket Chief Jaydev Shah’s application to recover Rs 900,000 in “waste legal costs” from plaintiff Sanjeev Gupta in a conflict of interest case.
The Shah informed the Ethics Officer on 8 June 2021 that Gupta should pay the legal costs after the conflict of interest allegation against the SCA President was dismissed by the Ethics Officer on 5 June 2021. I was writing a letter.
However, in an order issued on Sunday, Saran did not find sufficient grounds for the Shah’s application to recover legal costs from Gupta.
“In the facts and circumstances of the present case, it was already decided by the ethics officer at the time (DK Jain) that there were sufficient grounds for awarding costs in matters where costs had already been sought before but were not awarded. I can’t find it,” Sarang said.
“At this stage, no valid justification for awarding the fee has been provided.” Saran also rejected Gupta’s prayers to impose legal fees on the Shah for filing the application.
“Mr Sanjeev Gupta also prays to impose a fee on the applicant (Shah) to file the present application, but this prayer is also not justified and is therefore rejected. remains closed,” he added.
