Home and building products and services company BirlaNu (formerly HIL) is acquiring high-performance coatings and specialised construction chemicals of manufacturer Clean Coats for ₹120 crore.

The acquisition is in line with BirlaNu’s plans to double its portfolio over next three years with an investment outlay of over ₹1,300 crore. “We are strengthening BirlaNu’s position as an end-to-end provider of building products and solutions. Clean Coats enables us to reach a broader spectrum of customers across projects and retail channels, from advanced surface technologies to protection, adhesives, admixtures and waterproofing,” Managing Director and CEO Akshat Seth said.

Clean Coats is into specialty coatings with a portfolio that includes epoxy and polyurethane coatings, anti-corrosion linings, flooring systems, waterproofing and food-grade protective coatings. It counts companies implementing industrial, oil and gas as well as water management projects across India and in more than 27 countries among its customers, BirlaNu said in a release on signing of an agreement for the acquisition.

The transaction brings together Clean Coats’ technical expertise, proven formulations, and export capability with BirlaNu’s strong brand presence, market reach, institutional relationships and execution scale, BirlaNu President Avanti Birla said.
