In an interim relief to playback singer Kumar Sanu, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday (January 21) has restrained his ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya or her representatives from posting, sharing or circulating any defamatory content about the singer and his family through any medium.
The court said that the ex-wife “immediately restrain herself and ensure that there is no further reputational damage caused any further and no further insinuations are spoken by her about/against the plaintiff Sanu”.

The HC passed an interim order while hearing an interim application by the singer in his Rs 30 lakh defamation suit against his ex-wife through advocate Sana Raees Khan for allegedly making defamatory statements through interviews given to entertainment platforms.
“Prima facie, after going through the same, I am of the opinion that at some places in the interviews which have been given by Defendant, there is a clear personal tirade against Plaintiff which is prima facie qualified by words that are used there,” a single-judge bench of Justice Milind N Jadhav observed in January 21 order.
