It’s tough maintaining a relationship under the public eye, as hip-hop as a genre has had its fair share of relationships that bit the dust. Among the plenty of unions that didn’t work lies the marriage of rappers Cardi B and Offset. The two started dating in 2017; Offset would soon propose to her during a concert the same year. However, things were far from perfect, and the couple have filed for divorce on two separate occasions. During a recent interview, Cardi talked about her marriage and how this time the divorce and separation were going to stick.
While talking to Jay Shetty on his podcast, she shed some light on how her marriage went downhill very quickly and how she had to get out for her own good. She said, “I was saying, ‘You know what? I can’t go through this anymore. I have to put a stop to it.’ But when I said I was going to put a stop to it — because you can say you’re going to put a stop to it, and you could go a month without being around somebody. It’s not when you say so. It’s when your heart says so. I kept telling myself, ‘I would not contact this person for a month. I would not give in. I would not forgive this easily. I would not go back. I would not go to the pattern. I would not go through it. But I was crying every day. I was hurt every day. I was thinking about it every single day. But when your heart is not done, your heart is not done.”

She admitted that she tried to make it work after the birth of their third child, Blossom. But her partner broke her trust yet again and destroyed any chance of them making it work, even for the sake of their children.
Cardi first filed for divorce back in 2020, but the couple reconciled and tried to save their marriage. The initial filing presumably came because of the multiple cheating scandals the Migos rapper was involved in; one of them came just two months after his public proposal. They initially split in 2018, only to get back together a year later. Then came the first divorce filing and the second round of reconciliation. The final divorce filing came in July of 2024, just a month before Cardi announced that she was expecting her third child.
The couple seem to have separated for good now, as Cardi is currently seeing Stefon Diggs, and the two of them are expecting a child of their own. Rumours have paired Offset with model Melanie Jayda.
