'Didn't want nuclear dust over LA': Donald Trump takes credit for India-Pakistan truce again; claims he gave 350% tariff threat

The US President Donald Trump on Thursday again credited himself for India-Pakistan truce, claiming, this time, that he gave a 350% tariff threat to both the nations. He went on to claim that his efforts averted a nuclear war between the two nations. “India and Pakistan were going to go at it with nuclear weapons. I told them, you can go at it, but I’m putting a 350 percent tariff on each country, no more trade with the United States,” he said.

“I’m not going to have you shooting nuclear weapons at each other, killing millions, and having nuclear dust floating over Los Angeles… I said, I don’t care if you like it or not. I was all set, 350 percent tariff to settle that war,” he added.India launched military operation against terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after Pahalgam attack in Kashmir killed 26 on April 22.Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 and truce was announced on May 10.Though Trump has repeatedly claimed that he used trade to stop the war, India has denied any third-party intervention, saying that the ceasefire was purely bilateral.
