Trapped in flames, no way out: Telangana student dies in Germany after jumping from burning apartment on New Year’s Eve
A 22-year-old Telangana engineering student, Thokala Hruthik Reddy, tragically died in Germany after jumping from his burning apartment on New Year’s Eve

HYDERABAD: A 22-year-old engineering student from Telangana died after jumping from his apartment during a fire in Germany on Dec 31, triggering appeals from his family for help to bring his body home. Thokala Hruthik Reddy from Malkapur village in Chilpur mandal of Jangaon district was living in Brandenburg near Berlin. The fire spread across the floor where his apartment was located, leaving him trapped.

As flames engulfed the area and with no escape route, Hruthik jumped from the building, suffering critical head injuries, according to information received by his family. He was rushed to hospital but did not survive. Cause of the fire was not immediately known.Hruthik was pursuing a master’s degree at University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Potsdam, a city southwest of Berlin. He had earlier completed his engineering at a private college in Warangal.Relatives in Malkapur said they learned of his death from German authorities and urged Indian officials to assist with body’s repatriation.
