‘Champions!’ Narendra Modi Celebrates Team India’s Stunning ICC Men's T20 World Cup Title Win

India made history after winning back-to-back T20 World Cup titles, becoming the first country to defend its title and win it at home. Moreover, it was also the third t20 World Cup title for the ‘Men in Blue’ – most for any any country since the start of the tournament. India’s win over New Zealand not just captivated billions in India but also caught the attention of some of the biggest names in the tech world too. Both Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella have congratulated the team India on winning the cup.

“Congrats India on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup!,” said Pichai, who was present at one of the matches during the tournament, had a light-hearted confession to make.“Chose the wrong game to go watch:) what a stadium and atmosphere. Well played to the other semi finalists, SA, Eng and Nz!! Also so exciting to see the game expand to so many countries and congrats to ICC for a great tournament!” he added.

Nadella was also excited to see India win and he particularly mentioned Jasprit Bumrah and Sanju Samson for their performances throughout the tournament.“Congratulations to Team India on a fantastic T20 World Cup win 🇮🇳 Tough luck today, New Zealand. @Jaspritbumrah93, once again a match winner when it mattered most. @IamSanjuSamson, what a tournament and what an impact. Absolutely incredible,” Nadella said.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup: India make history

India dismantled New Zealand to win the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, becoming the first team in history to defend the title and the first to win it on home soil. The victory completes a “Triple Crown” for India, adding to their 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy trophies.New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and chose to field. Sanju Samson (89 off 46 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (52 off 21 balls) came out swinging and never looked back. The pair put on 98 runs in just 43 balls, including a powerplay score of 92/0 — the highest powerplay total in T20 World Cup history. Soon Ishan Kishan blazed his way to 54 off just 25 balls with Shivam Dube finishing with a 26 off just 8 balls to push India’s total to 255 for 5.Chasing 256, New Zealand’s batting lineup crumbled against a disciplined Indian bowling attack. Jasprit Bumrah returned figures of 4 for 15; Axar Patel took three wickets, while Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Abhishek Sharma took one each.
