Organiser of the International Kite Festival and security personnel went into a tizzy at the venue in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad following a “last-minute” change in plan wherein Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz were to fly kites to inaugurate the festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront on Monday morning.
From a small stage from where this was to take place, a round space was cleared and an open jeep was decorated with marigolds for the two leaders to ride it as per the new plan.
Just minutes before the arrival of dignitaries, a white open jeep was arranged and parked at the event venue. Organisers were seen decorating it at the venue itself as team members dusted it clean. “It was a last-minute change but we were able to arrange it nicely,” an official said.
‘Hasti’s’ happiness
AN ABANDONED infant found in the Dindoli area of Surat has become a star attraction for the city police. Six days after she was found, Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut, his wife along with his staff, performed the naming rituals, with the baby being called “Hasti”.
Police inspector RI Chudasama, who found her crying near a pond, took her to the civic body-run SMIMER hospital, where she was under observation for a few days.
Chudasama visits the hospital frequently to check on her wellbeing. “We sent the girl child to the Child Welfare Centre at Katargam. We will visit the centre regularly and ensure that she gets regular vaccination and milk”, said Chudasama. Meanwhile, Chudasama and his team are also checking CCTV footage to find her parents, who have been booked for abandoning the baby.
