A BTech student was Saturday killed after an Innova car allegedly rammed into his motorcycle at Sarangpur.
The deceased was identified as Abhinav Sharma, a student of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Sarangpur.

As per the police, the accident occurred on January 7 when Abhinav was riding a bike with his friend Sagar towards Sector 15. While on the way, a speeding Innova car allegedly took a sudden turn without indicating and crashed into their motorcycle. Both Abhinav and Sagar were thrown onto the road and suffered serious injuries.
The car driver took both injured students to Sector 16 hospital but fled soon thereafter. Due to the critical condition of Abhinav, he was referred to PGI, where he later succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Following a complaint by 19-year-old Sagar, a resident of Khudda Lahora, the police registered a case against the unidentified driver on Saturday.

Sagar told the police that Abhinav was riding the bike while he was seated behind him when the accident happened. He added that he could identify the driver if he came face to face with him.

The police launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver.
