Karnataka power tussle: Congress' KC Venugopal met with loud ‘DK, DK’ chants at airport — watch

NEW DELHI: A day after Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and deputy CM DK Shivakumar displayed a great show of unity, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal was welcomed with “DK, DK” chants at Mangaluru airport. After their second breakfast meet, the two leaders had declared that they would “run the government together,” leaving the leadership decision with the “party high command” amid escalating power tussle within the Congress.

‘We Are United…Will Go To Delhi If High Command Calls’: Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar After Meeting

“There are no differences. Me and DK Shivakumar are united. We will run the government together in the future as well. All our MLAs are united, and unitedly we will face the opposition. We are in the same party, we follow the same ideology, and we work together. In the future, too, both of us will work together and bring the party back to power,” Siddaramaiah said after the meeting.“This unity is not something new today; we have always been united. Whatever decision Rahul Gandhi makes, we will act accordingly; that is what I have said,” he added.Siddaramaiah stopped by DK Shivakumar’s home for “breakfast 2.0,” a follow-up to their earlier weekend meeting at the chief minister’s Cauvery residence — a move widely viewed as another attempt to dial down tensions between the two senior Congress leaders. The renewed outreach comes after the Congress high command urged both leaders to close ranks and project unity ahead of the Belagavi legislature session beginning December 8.
