Police chase ends when suspect crashes into village fire hydrant
A police chase that began at a barber shop in La Jolla ended in the village on the morning of Jan. 19, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Lieutenant Brian Brecht said police officers tried to tow the vehicle whose brake lights had gone out, but the male driver sped away.
“The chase continued northwards and eventually the driver hit a fire hydrant at the intersection of Prospect Street and La Jolla Boulevard,” Brecht said. “The suspect fled on foot and was arrested at the police station. [300 block of] Prospect Street. ”
Brecht said the driver had an outstanding felony warrant for arrest. Brecht said the vehicle was registered with his family.
