Jan 25 (Reuters) – Meta Platforms Inc’s (META.O) social media apps appeared to be back on track after being hit by temporary disruptions in the United States on Wednesday.Outage tracking website Downdetector.com data showed.
At the peak of the outage, as of 2352 GMT, over 17,000 user reports indicated problems with Instagram in the US. The Facebook app reported over 13,000 incidents, and around the same time, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger experienced a brief spike in outage reports.
Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from multiple sources, including user-submitted errors on the platform.
Several companies have experienced service disruptions, from Alphabet’s (GOOGL.O) to Microsoft (MSFT.O), and outages for big tech platforms are not uncommon.
Microsoft suffered a network outage early Wednesday that brought its cloud platform Azure down along with services like Teams and Outlook, affecting millions of users around the world.
Meta did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
