This spring, the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) will host an in-person camp that invites children ages 7-12 to the museum to explore their creativity through a series of art classes. Each day, children are introduced to a range of art and design techniques in a creative environment. Participants create a variety of artwork using styles and techniques such as collage, optical illusion, sculpture, and abstract work.
Classes will run from Monday, March 20, 2023 to Friday, March 24, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Monday March 20: M stands for Magnetic Collages: campers will create their own magnets filled with recycled offs and ends. Inspired by Louise Baldwin, students learn about the art of construction and create masterpieces to take home.
Tuesday, March 21: O is for Optical Illusion. Camper creates his own Op Art masterpiece. Inspired by the artist’s Nike Savvas, students create three-dimensional sculptures using string and popsicle sticks.
Wednesday, March 22: C for Cardboard Sculptures: Inspired by the Cubist movement and artist Warren King, students will create their own animal sculptures.
Thursday, March 23: A is for Abstract: Students will discover abstract artist Norman Lewis and create their own mystical abstract works.
Friday, March 24: Nomi is for Us: Students create artwork that they feel represents life in Miami. Inspired by MOCA and Art on the Plaza, students will imagine the work they want to display and create their own mini-works inspired by Art on the Plaza.

About the North Miami Museum of Contemporary Art:
MOCA North Miami showcases contemporary art and its historical impact through exhibitions, educational programs and collections. MOCA connects diverse audiences and cultures by drawing inspiration from the communities around them, providing a welcoming forum for new ideas and voices, and fostering a lifelong love of the arts. MOCA evolved from the Center for Contemporary Art, which was launched in 1981. The establishment of the permanent collection coincided with the institution’s move to its current building, designed by GSNY’s Charles Gwasmey, in 1996.
