NIXA, Mo. (KY3) – A teacher at Nixa High School has been charged with multiple sex crimes.
Prosecutors charged Lena Stewart, 27, with three counts of second-degree statutory sodomy, three counts of sexual contact with a student, and one count of sexual misconduct.
Prosecutors say the case dates back to October 2022. The Nixa School District put Stewart on leave in December.
The school district has released this statement to KY3 regarding billing.
“I learned today that charges have been filed against Lena Stewart, a teacher at Nixa High School.
We take allegations of inappropriate conduct very seriously. As such, when the allegations were made in December, the school district followed policies and procedures, putting Lena and her Stewart on leave, and will continue to follow board policy and procedures when dealing with this situation.
The district will cooperate with appropriate authorities in conducting their investigations and will cooperate fully with their needs.”
