Music composer Palash Muchhal, who was hospitalised in Mumbai for “stress-related distress”, has now been discharged, as per a report by India Today. Palash was hospitalised, first in Sangli, and later in Mumbai’ SRV Hospital, after his pre-wedding celebration with cricketer Smriti Mandhana. It was reported that after the celebration, Smriti’s father Shrinivas had some health complications, due to which the wedding was postponed.
On Wednesday, Dr Dipendra Tripathi gave a health update for Palash and said, “Muchhal’s condition appears to be linked to stress-related distress rather than a serious cardiac event.” He added, “While certain levels were found to be slightly elevated, there was no indication of a major cardiac or medical emergency. As a basic line of treatment in such cases, oxygen therapy was started immediately.”
Shrinivas was reportedly discharged on Wednesday morning, and Palash has also been discharged but the wedding remains postponed.
Palash’s cousin says ‘don’t judge him’
Palash’s sudden departure from Smriti’s hometown Sangli sparked some speculation. Later, she also deleted wedding-related announcements from her social media. Her teammates also unfollowed Palash on social media. Amid this, Palash’s cousin Neeti Tak shared on Instagram, “Palash is going through a critical condition today. You all should not judge him without knowing the truth… Technology has come far ahead of humans, and people should not form opinions based on rumours. Pray for him.”
‘Palash is under a lot of stress’
Palash’s mother Amita explained his health to Hindustan Times and said that he was shocked after learning about Smriti’s father’s health, and decided to postpone the wedding. “The haldi was done, so we didn’t let him go outside. Rote rote ekdum tabiyat karab ho gayi. Four ghante hospital mein rakhna pada. IV drip chadhi. ECG hua aur doosre tests hue. Sab normal aaye but stress bahut hai (He cried so much that his health suddenly deteriorated. He had to be kept in the hospital for four hours. He was given an IV drip. An ECG and other tests were done. Everything came back normal, but the stress is too much),” she said.

She also added, “Palash ko uncle se bahut zyada attachment hai… Smriti se zyada yeh dono close hain. Jab unko ho gaya toh Smriti se pehle Palaash ne decision liya ke usko abhi phere nahi karne hain…jab tak uncle theek nahin ho jaate (Palash is very attached to uncle He is closer to him than to Smriti. When he fell ill, Palash decided—even before Smriti—that they should not go ahead with the wedding rituals until uncle recovers).”
‘Indefinitely postponed’
The health complications for Smriti’s father and the groom-to-be came after the wedding celebrations had already started in Sangli. After her father’s hospitalisation, Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, released a formal statement that the wedding would be ‘indefinitely postponed’. Tuhin revealed that Smriti is very close to her father, hence she decided to postpone the wedding until he recovers. “Smriti is clear – she wants to see her father well and then get married,” he said.
Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana have not released any official statements about their postponed wedding.
