Ramakrishnan Chander takes charge as LIC MD

Ramakrishnan Chander has taken charge as Managing Director of Life Insurance Corporation Of India (LIC).

Prior to his elevation, as the MD on Monday, Mr.Chander served as LIC’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Executive Director of the Investment (Front Office) Department, the State-owned insurer said in a release on Tuesday.

He has over 35 years of accomplished experience across various domains of LIC’s operations. Joining LIC in 1990 as an Assistant Administrative Officer, Mr.Chander, over the years, held several key positions, including Senior Divisional Manager, Regional Manager for Marketing and Pension and Group Schemes and Executive Director of LIC’s Strategic Business Unit for International Operations.

As CIO, he led one of India’s largest investment portfolios and was instrumental in driving LIC’s financial performance and innovation in the insurance sector. Under his leadership, investment returns strengthened, delivering improved value to policyholders, LIC said.
