One of the Indian television industry’s most beloved couples, Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim have been going through a tough time following the former’s cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. However, they aren’t letting anything hold them back from enjoying every bit of their lives and often share glimpses of their happy moments with fans on social media.
Recently, Shoaib shared an update on Dipika’s health and the current status of her treatment. Mentioning that they are awaiting her latest blood test results, the actor also expressed that such periods, marked by fear and uncertainty, are particularly stressful. During an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on social media, a fan asked about Dipika’s health and Shoaib replied, “We went to the hospital to give blood samples just yesterday (November 4). Initially, we had to go after three months (following the surgery earlier this year), and after that, we were told to come after two months. Now, the reports will come tomorrow.”
While discussing the stress they face during such periods, Shoaib turned the camera towards Dipika, who was seated next to him in the car. “This time scares us. I hope, by God’s grace, everything turns out to be fine,” he said as she nodded in agreement. Shoaib also assured fans that he would share an update once they receive the report.
After being diagnosed with a cancerous liver tumour in April this year, Dipika Kakar underwent a 14-hour surgery in June. The “tennis ball-sized tumour” was detected to be cancerous at the second stage, she had shared back then. The actor is currently undergoing post-operative treatment, including targeted therapy.
In a recent vlog on her YouTube channel, she shared details regarding her previous routine blood test. “The reports have come. I had hypothyroidism earlier, and when my target therapy started, my doctor had asked me to keep a careful watch on thyroid levels because they get disturbed. For a few days, I have been feeling bloated, having mood swings, and fatigue. I have ulcers that have increased since the last two days,” Dipika Kakar said.
“Everything is normal, but thyroid is not, so my dosage has been increased. We have to keep a close watch and redo the test in four weeks. My doctor had told me that it’s rare for people to have hair fall during target therapy, but I have severe hair fall. My hair volume was never so thin that gaps were visible, but now it’s happened, so I will start wearing a hair patch soon,” she added.
Dipika and Shoaib fell in love while working together on the hit soap Sasural Simar Ka. The two tied the knot in 2018 and have a son named Ruhaan. While Shoaib was most recently seen on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 11, where he emerged as the runner-up, Dipika’s last appearance was on the cooking game show Celebrity MasterChef earlier this year, from which she had to quit midway due to a shoulder-related health issue.
