Austintown, Ohio (WKBN) – The dance community is rallying behind one of its own.
Austintown’s Escape Dance Academy has expressed its support for Lucy Thomas. The 11-year-old is one of her dancers on the dance academy’s elite squad.
Doctors recently discovered a large lump in her abdomen. She underwent emergency surgery on Friday and her family is now awaiting her pathology report.
To show support while Thomas is in treatment, dance teams across the country have begun participating in a fun social media challenge launched by the Escape Dance Academy. Dancers post their best leg holds on social media. and tagged Thomas and Dance Academy.
“It spread throughout the dance community. It’s great because it just shows that everyone is together and that everyone is here to support her. Far beyond,” said Escape Dance Academy’s Lindsay Stumpo.
Moms and dads are also participating in the social media challenge. To join in the fun, post your best leg holds using the hashtag LegHolds4Lucy.
