Alumni of 1965 and football’s standout at Donora High School and Ohio State University, Bill Urbanik has enjoyed an impressive football career that spans over 50 years.
He was a Parade All-American, helped win the Rose Bowl with OJ Simpson in Southern California, and coached and scouted for college and professional teams. But Urbanik is just one of Donora’s many other stars.
Urbanik was coaching at Marshall University the year after the 1970 plane crash that claimed the lives of many members of the football team.
Another outstanding DHS football player, Larry “Knux” Nelson, was with the Marshall team but was not with the team on the day the accident occurred.

In 1967, Nelson nearly joined Malcolm Lomax in rushing over 1,000 yards.
