In a good start to Navratri festival season and thereafter, auto makers have reported robust business which was backed by the reduction in Goods & Services Tax (GST) starting September 22, 2025.

“The start to this festive season has been extremely encouraging. The recent GST reduction and special festive offers have sparked an extraordinary wave of consumer interest and enthusiasm,” said Shailesh Chandra, president, SIAM and MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.

“In just the first two days, auto dealerships nationwide are witnessing unprecedented walk-ins, a surge in enquiries, and record deliveries across most segments,” he said.

“We are hopeful that this celebratory momentum will continue, making this festive season one of the most memorable for the industry and consumers alike,” he said.

In the first day of Navratri Tata Motors had reported deliveries of over 10,000 cars and SUVs and had received over 25,000 inquiries, the company said. The figures of Day 2 was not available.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, India’s biggest car maker said the response from customers had been “phenomenal—something it had not seen in the last 35 years.

“On the very first day, we recorded 80,000 enquiries, and have already delivered over 25,000 cars, with deliveries expected to touch 30,000 shortly. Since 18th September, when we announced additional price reduction (over and above GST), we have received 75,000 bookings, with nearly 15,000 bookings coming in every day—about 50% higher than usual,” the company said in a statement.

“Demand for small cars has been especially strong, with bookings growing by nearly 50%. Enquiries remain very high, and we may even run out of stock for certain variants. Dealers are staying open late into the night to deliver cars to customers. Compared to last year, the overall response has been exceptionally strong,” the company said.
