Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry are stepping into something different from basketball this offseason. Their latest move connects them with one of the most influential figures in finance. The move signals a shared purpose that goes beyond fame, business, or sport. It is about impact, and it is rooted in communities that need it most.As the $150 billion-rich mogul, Warren Buffett reintroduces one of his most iconic charity initiatives, the Currys are on board. Together, they are turning a well-known philanthropic tradition into something that feels new again. Of course, Stephen is one of the most popular and highly celebrated NBA stars right now, and Ayesha has built her own legacy in different ventures, including entrepreneurship and acting.

After a four-year pause, Warren Buffett is reviving his famous charity lunch, but this time the format carries a different kind of star power. The 95-year-old Berkshire Hathaway chairman has partnered with Stephen and Ayesha Curry to launch an auction titled “A Seat At The Table,” combining financial clout with cultural relevance.“Over the years, I’ve seen how the business community and innovative nonprofits can work together to create real change, and I’ve always believed in supporting organizations that are making a meaningful difference,” Buffett said in a statement. “This event is about coming together again, in a new way, with people I admire, to support work that truly matters. Partnering with Stephen and Ayesha to help launch something new in support of these communities is something I’m very happy to be part of.”Online bidding opens May 7 and runs through May 14 on eBay. The winning bidder, along with up to seven guests, will sit down for a private lunch with Buffett and the Currys in Omaha on June 24. The stakes are high. Previous editions of this auction have raised more than $50 million, including a record-breaking $19 million bid in 2022. The NBA power couple has also been actively involved in charity work over the years. Their Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation was featured in Times 100 Philanthropy.

At its core, this partnership is about channeling influence into action. Proceeds from the auction will be split between the Glide Foundation in San Francisco and the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, which the Currys founded to support children in Oakland through education, nutrition, and physical activity.“For us, this is about using the platform we’ve been given to create something bigger than ourselves,” the Currys said. “We’ve always believed that access can open doors, but what matters most is what you do with it. With this incredible auction, we are excited to turn this moment into real impact for students and families throughout the Bay Area community.”Glide has long been a lifeline for vulnerable populations, while the Currys’ foundation reflects their personal investment in their home community. Add Ayesha’s growing business presence through her Sweet July brand, and the collaboration begins to look less like a one-off event and more like a meeting of aligned visions.Buffett’s decision to bring the lunch back was influenced by the passing of Glide’s founder, Rev. Cecil Williams. His belief that the organization should endure seems to have found new guardians in this partnership.
