Stock market today: Nifty50 ends below 25,750; BSE Sensex down over 460 points – The Times of India

Stock market today: Nifty50 ends below 25,750; BSE Sensex down over 460 points

Stock market today: Indian equity benchmark indices, Nifty50 and BSE Sensex, dropped in trade on Friday due to selling pressure in private banking stocks and weak global market conditions.The BSE Sensex index concluded at 83,938.71, showing a decrease of 465.75 points or 0.55 per cent. Throughout the trading session, it reached a low of 83,905.66, down by 498.8 points or 0.59 per cent. Similarly, the NSE Nifty dropped by 155.75 points or 0.60 per cent to close at 25,722.10.Analysts noted that investor confidence was affected by foreign fund withdrawals, varied corporate performance reports, and uncertainty regarding the US Federal Reserve’s future interest rate decisions.Among Sensex companies, the primary decliners included Eternal, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Power Grid, Trent and HDFC Bank. Conversely, Bharat Electronics, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services, ITC and State Bank of India showed positive performance.In Asian trading, whilst South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei 225 finished positively, China’s SSE Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng ended lower. European markets traded negatively, following US markets’ downward closure on Thursday.FIIs sold equities worth Rs 3,077.59 crore on Thursday, whilst DIIs purchased equities valued at Rs 2,469.34 crore, according to exchange data.
