Ceduna Police have received recent reports of home break-ins, sheds and vehicles and have arrested a teenager as part of an ongoing investigation.
Affected areas include Ceduna, Thevenard, and Ceduna Waters, where thieves target cash and easily hidden items.
A 16-year-old boy from Port Lincoln was arrested on Saturday, January 21, as part of an investigation into a series of crimes that occurred around January 13.
The teenage girl was charged with 10 counts of trespassing a vehicle and 8 counts of theft.
He was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in Ceduna Magistrates Court today, Monday, January 23.
The crime is believed to have been committed with other teens, and police have warned residents to be on the safe side.
The public will also be reminded of the importance of reporting suspicious or criminal activity, such as intruders or people hanging around parked vehicles, at any time of the day or night on the 131 444 Police Assistance Line.
Residents should also ensure that:
- Cars, houses and sheds are always locked
- CCTV cameras are operational, unobstructed, have clean lenses, and have adequate storage on recording equipment
- sensor light works
- Valuables have marks or engravings
- Electronic device tracking features/apps are on and working
