Hayes County, Texas (KXAN) – The Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Marcos reports that the death rate from Alzheimer’s disease in Hayes County is higher than the national average.
The hospital’s 2023-2025 Community Health Assessment Needs reported that the Alzheimer’s mortality rate in Hayes County was 38.8%, with a national average of 30.8%.
Her mother died of Alzheimer’s on December 27th of last year.
“She had sweet moments,” said Landau.
Their journey with the disease began 11 years ago. “In theory, we knew what the roads would be like. But I don’t think anyone was really ready,” she said.
Her mother ended up staying at Brookdale Senior Living in San Marcos, which provides memory care.
There she met Megan Spiller, the sales manager.
“MemoryCare is a safe part of our community. It allows residents to live as independently as possible, but may need a little more help throughout the day.” We are safe, so if anyone is looking for an exit, we can keep them safe in a small environment, keep an eye on them 24/7, and give them the love and care they need.
Recently, more and more people are interested in Brookdale Senior Living’s memory care services.
“There’s a growing demand for people who have left their loved ones at home and cared for them, but are now reaching the point where they need more help,” Spiller said.
