Declan McMahon, son of WWE superstar Shane McMahon and grandson of Vince and Linda McMahon, recently completed a summer internship at ESPN. The opportunity allowed him to gain hands-on experience in sports media while building connections that could shape his future career. Linda McMahon shared the news while appearing on the Sage Steele Show, highlighting how such opportunities can lead to meaningful professional growth for college students.

Declan, who played running back at Indiana University before entering the transfer portal in 2024, seems to be exploring avenues beyond the gridiron. While he has dabbled in football, his recent internship signals a growing interest in sports media and production.Though his path may diverge from wrestling, Declan hasn’t completely ruled out the family business. In 2023, he attended a friend’s wrestling practice, hinting he could eventually return to WWE in some capacity. With WWE striking a major partnership deal with ESPN for streaming and TV broadcasts of flagship events like WrestleMania and the Royal Rumble, Declan’s timing could not be more strategic. His exposure to ESPN’s inner workings might position him for future roles on either side of the WWE-ESPN partnership, from production to commentary.

During Stephanie McMahon’s surprise announcement for her 2026 WWE Hall of Fame induction, Declan tweeted, “Put Shane McMahon in the Hall of Fame!” His post received immediate support from WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, who praised Declan for looking out for his father’s legacy. His public involvement showed Declan’s connection to WWE while simultaneously cultivating his own path in sports media. As Declan McMahon prepares to enter his senior year of college, his summer at ESPN provides valuable experience that could shape a career bridging sports media and entertainment. Whether he follows the McMahon wrestling legacy or carves a new path in broadcasting, his name continues to make waves in both industries, hinting fans a promising future for the next generation of the McMahon family. Also Read: “He knocks my jaw”- The Rock admits he doesn’t stand a chance against former UFC champion inside the octagon
