Oscars 2026 Winners LIVE Updates:Amid the ongoing attacks by the US and Israel on Iran and escalating geopolitical turmoil, the 98th Academy Awards ceremony was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday, March 16. While director Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another swept the ceremony, winning six awards, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners finished the race with four wins.

One Battle After Another won awards for Best Picture and Best Director, while Michael B Jordan clinched the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Sinners. Hamnet’s Jessie Buckley was named Best Actress. Director Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein emerged as a frontrunner in the Oscars race and won a total of three awards. Amy Madigan (Weapons) and Sean Penn (One Battle After Another), meanwhile, were named best supporting actors.
Although India didn’t have anything significant to look forward to at the Oscars 2026, particularly after director Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound (2025) failed to secure a spot in the final five in the Best International Feature Film category, the country nonetheless had representation. While actor-producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas was one of the presenters, Indian-American filmmaker Geeta Gandbhir had earned two nominations: Best Documentary Feature Film (The Perfect Neighbor) and Best Documentary Short Film (The Devil Is Busy). However, Gandbhir’s movies didn’t win any awards.
With television host and comedian Conan O’Brien returning as host for the second year in a row, this year’s Academy Awards ceremony lived up to its sobriquet of “Hollywood’s biggest night,” thus bringing the ongoing film awards season to a close.
The event was held amid heightened security. The main ceremony began at 4.30 am IST on Monday, March 16 (7 pm EDT on March 15). It was available for streaming live on JioHotstar. The ceremony was broadcast on television on Star Movies, Star Movies Select, and Colors Infinity as well.
