Bollywood can be considered by many to be a family-run profession. Most of the people involved have some kind of connection with the industry prior to their employment. Just like fathers making way for their offspring, the industry has also seen a lot of siblings flourish together, and Ayushmann Khurrana and Aparshakti Khurana are stellar examples of the same. During a recent interview, the former talked about his younger brother and how he feels about his current trajectory.

While giving an interview during the FICCI Frames event, Ayushmann was asked about how he felt that his brother is part of the same profession that he is in. He replied, “I think it’s beautiful. He never wanted to be an actor to begin with. He wanted to be a cricketer, and he was the Haryana captain of the under-19side. He has even played at the national level. He suddenly wanted to be an actor, and he is natural because of his background. He knows Haryanvi and Punjabi, and he is very rooted. He always had that comic timing, but he surprised the world with his serious Bengali character. I wasn’t surprised though; I always knew he had that within him.”

When asked about elder siblings usually doing better in the film industry, Ayushmann said, “I really believe that there is no way to compare the two of us. He is very happy with what he is doing. He does 10 different things in one day, and you can’t really measure success. He is a natural sportsperson; he is a great musician. He travels a lot, and he lives his life to the fullest. I think he is far more successful than me.”

Aparshakti has also been posed with similar questions in the past regarding comparisons with his brother and his career. During an appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Aparshakti shut down the possibility of the comparisons damaging the bond with his brother and said, “Never, 200% never, not at all. Firstly, I haven’t seen these comparisons myself. Secondly, the answer to this question can only be felt when you see us sit together and share a meal every night. We live in the same building, we have meals together, and we work out together. The day my brother makes me feel like he’s the bigger star, that’s the end of the road (for us). What people say isn’t the end of the road.”

With the announcement of the film Thama, the two brothers are now part of the same Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Aparshakti has been part of both the Stree movies, which became the biggest cash cow for the production house. Ayushmann will be leading Thama alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal.
